Yash Farm Centre for Sustainable Living is located on a six acre land parcel within the village limits of Kadu Kembathalli, Thally, Tamil Nadu. While the farm land is being developed into food forest based on Natural farming / permaculture and regenerative farming techniques, the Centre within this farm will strive to offer quality education, training and experiential learning to people (adults, school children and college students) interested in learning natural farming / permaculture, practicing sustainable living. The centre is also equipped to train farmers to learn regenerative agriculture to generate carbon credits. The centre is also an ideal destination for Stay-cation / weekend getaway / day outing for friends and families to get-together and experience responsible tourism that promotes rural way of “greener lifestyle”

The farm has dormitories and guest cottages (under construction), community kitchen cum dining, events spaces and other amenities are being built using natural building materials like mud, stones, hay, bamboo etc. This is an ideal destination for someone wanting to learn, experience and practice “sustainable living” in a typical village set-up equipped with certain modern amenities.

This land parcel is at a higher altitude from the adjoining pristine Benki Falls and the North Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary (which is an extension of Bannerghatta / Bilakal Forest). The higher altitude of the farm offers our guests an amazing view of the mesmerizing forest and comes with the associated forest / wild-life experiences, amazing landscape to learning and experiencing sustainable living principles.

The Centre for Sustainable Living by Yash Farm can be reached via Kanakapura road from the southern, western & northern suburbs / areas of Bangalore and via Hosur – Anekal – Thally road from eastern suburbs /areas. It is 65 kms ( ~ 2hrs drive) from Koramangala, Bangalore

This centre is an ongoing collaborative project between stakeholders who are keen to promote rural / agro tourism in India and through curated workshops / events its provides the platform to connect the city dwellers with rural India. Founders of Yash Farm (Shyla and Karthik) along with C. Kumar, Director at Nesara Farmers Produce Organization’s (FPO) Thally and the farmers from Nesara FPO are coming together to promote rural tourism. We are always looking for more like minded people or organizations to partner and promote sustainable living.

While the farm is under development, the centre is open and offers the following “curated course and workshops” :

  1. Residential Workshops & Retreats – Sustainable & Holistic living, Yoga & Meditation, Healing, Regenerative farming & permaculture, Natural Farming, Climate Change, Corporate / Startup meetings / co-working, Design sprints, etc.
  2. Master classes – Painting, Pottery, Music, Handicrafts, Story telling, Acting, Public speaking, etc
  3. Eco friendly & green Events – Weddings, Birthday / Anniversary parties, Photo & Video shoots, Spiritual & religious ceremonies like homa, yagna etc all events designed and executed to be compliant with circular economy.
  4. Weekend farm stay and farm Day outing package (coming soon) includes showcase of village cultural activities and village games

Day outing & Sustainable living Workshops –

On most Sundays, the team at Yash Farm Stays hosts a workshop “Introduction to Sustainable Living” from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The workshop is followed by a Farm-to-Table vegetarian lunch. The typical batch size for this workshop is 20-22 people and it is run on a first cum first serve basis.

The Sustainable Living workshop is a collaborative effort between Yash Farm, and their partners Nesara Farmer’s Producer Organization  and The Slow Life (Community). We are always open to collaborate with other agencies / individuals who are keen to promote sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, permaculture, zero-waste living, etc.

At these workshop we explain to our attendees the basics of sustainable living concepts like growing your own food, permaculture design, sustainable buildings, rain water harvesting, water conservation, use of clean tech energy, techniques around zero waste living etc. This is ideal for people who are seeking to gain more hands-on knowledge / experience around practicing sustainable living, organic farming kitchen gardening etc.

Accommodation Charges – Rs. 750/- per person for a 24 hrs stay in dormitories. Each dorm can house 6 people over 3 bunker beds and has common toilets and bath area.

Food charges – Rs.1,000/- per person for all three meals. The food is prepared from farm sourced ingredients and the cuisine is traditional Indian vegetarian. We may also occasionally serve chicken or mutton during local village festivities.

Important Notice : As Yash Farm’s Centre for Sustainable Living is place for learning and experience Sustainable living, hence smoking, consumption of alcohol and / or substance abuse are strictly prohibited and not allowed
